|Dwayne Wade player of the week!|
No, this isn’t a post on the Duggars…but I did just read that they are expecting again. A grandchild though…whew!
This is about the Miami HEAT, and their epic run.
With the defeat of the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night, the Miami HEAT clinched their 18th straight win, surpassing the Los Angeles Clippers for the longest win streak this season. They are now tied for the 6th longest single season win streak in NBA history. Who owns the record? Pat Riley’s Lakers in 1971-72 season, who had 33 straight wins when Riley was a player, not coach. The HEAT however now own the best record in the league at 47-14.
Player of the Week Honors
Yesterday Dwyane Wade was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference player of the week, his first of the season, and the first time since March of 2011. Wade tweeted: “Thanks to @KingJames for letting me borrow the Lebron James player of the week award…I promise ill keep it safe..”. This is the 16th time Wade has been awarded player of the week during his 10 year career.
Yes, it has been an impressive run for Miami since their last loss in Indiana on February 1st, but the HEAT are in the most rigorous and relentless month of their season. March Madness is upon us. There are 18 games this month, and after tonight’s game, 9 of the next 11 are on the road including games at Boston, Chicago, and San Antonio. Can the HEAT win on the road? Absolutely. Will the win streak continue? We hope so. But even if it doesn’t, Miami’s resilience in the months of February and March should quiet the naysayers, and bode well for another successful postseason.
Enjoy the ride HEAT fans, only 8 home games left until the playoffs including tonight’s contest against the Atlanta Hawks. See you on Sun Sports!
